The versatile Darren Sproles extends his stay with the Eagles

The Eagles have signed Darren Sproles to a one-year contract extension through the 2017 season.

Sproles, 33, rushed for 317 yards and three touchdown on 83 carries last season, and he caught 55 passes for 388 yards and one score. But that wasn’t all: He also returned 38 punts for 446 yards and two TDs. In two seasons with the Eagles, he has 14 total TDs and has been named to two Pro Bowls as a return man.

"Being one of the oldest guys on the team, to know you're going to be here a little bit longer, that's a pretty good feeling," Sproles said, via the Eagles' website.

Originally a fourth-round draft pick by the Chargers in 2005, Sproles played five years for San Diego and three years with the Saints before being traded to the Eagles prior to the 2014 season.

During his career, Sproles has 2,867 rushing yards and 20 rushing TDs, 4,156 receiving yards and 28 receiving TDs and 10,889 return yards and nine return TDs. The Eagles' website notes that he is the only NFL player with 15 or more rushing TDs, 25 or more receiving TDs and five or more punt return TDs in his career.
