The Raiders could look to deal backup QB Matt McGloin

He’s made the most of every opportunity and every start under center.

But Matt McGloin might have more value to another team than he does to the Oakland Raiders. And that’s why the team might consider trading him, according to ESPN.

For the first time in a while, Oakland’s quarterbacking situation seems stable. Derek Carr is entrenched as the starter, and Christian Ponder has impressed as his backup. That leaves little room for McGloin, who might be the NFL’s best QB3.

Head coach Jack Del Rio could prefer carrying only three quarterbacks in September. ESPN blogger Bill Williamson thinks final roster cut downs are when a McGloin trade is likeliest.
