The Philadelphia Eagles' 2015 draft class has been a disappointment
The Eagles’ 2015 draft class has not proven their worth so far in their short time in Philadelphia.
When the Philadelphia Eagles and former head coach Chip Kelly saw the 2015 NFL Draft come to a close, everyone was relieved. The Eagles had addressed their needs and seemed to have improved their roster. Now, looking back on the draft class, all anyone can say is what happened?

The Eagles used their first-round pick on wide receiver Nelson Agholor who has yet to prove himself in Philadelphia. His first season was filled with disappointment and injury. Now, he’s arguably the least consistent wide receiver on the roster. Still, the Eagles seem to have faith in Agholor. He’ll get another shot this season to prove himself; however, it’s not certain if he’ll live up to his first round potential.
The Eagles’ second-round pick was cornerback Eric Rowe. In fact, the Eagles traded up to make that selection. Rowe got a taste of how difficult life in the NFL could be last season when, in his matchup against Calvin Johnson, he was embarrassed. Rowe rebounded after that and played solid football, but this season, the Eagles have a new defensive scheme. Rowe has shown he’s experienced some difficulty in adapting to this new scheme. Now, reports are indicating that the Eagles are shopping him. Is it time to use the word bust?
Jordan Hicks was selected in the third round. He didn’t come with a lot of fanfare, but we all know now how successful Hicks has been to this point. He’s the best of this draft class so far. Before his injury last season, he was one of the best players on this team. It doesn’t appear he’ll slow down either.
The rest of this draft class can be thrown in the category of failure. Two of the picks are no longer with the team and the other pick is likely to be cut soon. Brian Mihalik (7th round pick) was released last season and Randall Evans (6th round pick) was just recently released. JaCorey Shepherd was also selected in the 6th round. He’s been fighting for a roster spot but is likely to be released.
As you can see, this draft class has had it’s challenges. There was some excitement initially, but most of that is gone now. Hicks has been a steal, but no one else has proven anything. Agholor still has his chance to bolster this classes’ reputation, but that just isn’t enough. It isn’t over yet, but as it stands now the 2015 class appears to have been, for the most part, a disappointment.
