The Packers are reportedly about to sign yet another running back
The Green Bay Packers have had a never-ending carousel of players at running back this season, and it continues to spin in Week 9. First James Starks went down, then Eddie Lacy. Ty Montgomery, a wide receiver-running back hybrid, was also a bit banged up, too.
Knile Davis didn’t work out as he’s rejoined the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving Don Jackson as the only healthy back. Having one active running back isn’t ideal, but reinforcements are on the way.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers are expected to sign former Lions running back Joique Bell on Monday.
Bell last played for the Bears in 2016, carrying it just three times for six yards before getting cut on Oct. 24. He was a member of the Lions from 2011 to 2015, rushing for 2,235 yards and 22 touchdowns in that span.
He’s obviously not a Pro Bowl-caliber player, but the Packers don’t have many options at running back right now. Bell will at least provide some depth.
Help is on the way for the #Packers injury-riddled RB unit. I’m told FA RB Joique Bell is expected to sign with GB on Monday.
