The Chargers currently own the top pick in the 2016 NFL Draft

The San Diego Chargers are currently on the clock for 2016.

They're currently the worst 2-8 team in the NFL -- and that means they're the current possessors of the top pick in next year's draft.

Here is the current top five, based on record and strength of schedule index:

1. San Diego Chargers: 2-8 (.490 strength of schedule)

2. Tennessee Titans: 2-8 (.500 SOS)

3. Cleveland Browns: 2-8 (.500 SOS)

4. Baltimore Ravens: 3-7 (.490 SOS)

5. Dallas Cowboys: 3-7 (.520 SOS) The next closest AFC West team? That'd be the 4-6 Oakland Raiders (.480) at No. 9 overall.

It'll take some luck to keep the Bolts atop the draft board. They'll face a much easier schedule over the final five weeks than competitors in Tennessee and Cleveland.

Still, the Chargers haven't exactly put bad teams away. They kind of deserve the top overall pick.
