The Broncos are doing a little pre-Thanksgiving quarterback shopping

The Broncos are on a veteran quarterbacking safari now that Peyton Manning will miss more time.

They put in a waiver claim for released Bears QB Jimmy Clausen, according to 9News Denver's Mike Klis. They missed out -- so now they're zeroing in on former Vikings starter Christian Ponder.

General manager John Elway just wants to be prepared. His team is currently a Brock Osweiler injury away from starting rookie Trevor Siemian.

As Klis reported, the Ravens ultimately added Clausen. But Ponder is still around and the Broncos might be better with him on the roster, just in case.
