The 6 games Tennessee Titans fans care about

It is playoff time for the Tennessee Titans. I said last week that really, starting against the Denver Broncos every game should be considered a playoff game. If they could possibly win out, it would be a remarkable bump in their chances to get into the playoffs.

Having said that, the Titans probably can’t do that and will need a little help from teams across the league.

Here are the top 6 games (in order of importance) that the Titans should be watching around the league.

    1. Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars

This is the most important game this week for two reasons reasons. The most important reason being that the Texans are the AFC South leaders right now, and the Titans need to finish with a better record than them to wrestle that crown away.

If the Texans manage to lose this game, the remaining schedule is the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tennessee Titans themselves. That is a tough slate despite the Bengals record, especially if they get A.J. Green back.

The other reason this game is important is because the Jacksonville Jaguars have been bad this year. Like, really bad. So they are currently picking 3rd in the 2017 NFL Draft. That is a prime spot to get a really good player, especially if the Browns/San Francisco 49ers end up falling in love with a quarterback.

      2. New England Patriots at Denver Broncos

Titans fans need to put on some 12 jerseys when they aren’t playing their own games, because if they Patriots finish the next three games undefeated, they will likely knock out two potential hurdles in the AFC Wildcard hunt.

The Titans did the hard part in beating the Broncos to win their tiebreaker. That means that if they finish with the same record it will be the Titans, not the Broncos that make the playoffs as a 5 of 6 seed.

      3. Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

Yep, we really wanted the Jets to win that game last night. The Jets could have dealt the Dolphins and their backup QB a huge blow last night with a win. With Ryan Tannehill as a question mark, the Titans still have a chance to take this spot away from the Dolphins, but they need to lose to the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots.

Now, given how the Jets destroyed the Dolphins on the ground, maybe the Bills will put up a tough challenge, and we know how hard the Patriots are to play. So there is still hope for this spot, but last night would have given the Titans some breathing room.

      4. LA Rams at Seattle Seahawks

Yay, the Rams still refuse to win games! I’m not sure why you fire your head coach on a short week, but it may be time for some of the vets on the Rams to check out and start planning their vacations. Sure they could beat the 49ers next week if they really wanted, but why bother?

This almost secures a top-5 pick for the Titans and if they lose out they have a shot at a top-4 spot.

      5. Philadelphia Eagles at Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have the same record as the Tennessee Titans, but own a tiebreaker. A loss to the Eagles would be tough to overcome given that the rest of their schedule involves going on the road to Pittsburgh and Cincinnati in back to back weeks.

        6. Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills

Luckily this game is simultaneously the least important and the least likely outcome of the day. The Browns beating the Bills would be great for the Titans, almost guaranteeing that they miss out on the AFC Wildcard bid. If the Bills win, no big deal but a loss here would make them much easier to cheer for when they play the Dolphins next weekend.
