Texans reportedly release Brian Hoyer
A month after signing Brock Osweiler to a four year, $72 million contract, the Houston Texans have released quarterback Brian Hoyer, multiple outlets report.
The 30-year-old Hoyer played 11 games for the Texans in 2015, losing his starting role to Ryan Mallett after Week 1 but getting it back in by season's end, finishing out the year with 2,606 yards and 19 touchdowns in nine starts.
A poor postseason performance in a 30-0 wild card loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, however — where Hoyer threw four interceptions and just 136 yards — did not ingratiate Hoyer to anyone in the Houston area.
The Texans also have Tom Savage and Brandon Weeden in reserve alongside Osweiler.
