Texans fans cheer after Schaub's injury
An opposing defense returned a misfired Houston Texans pass for a touchdown for the fifth straight game on Sunday, but at least this time it wasn't Matt Schaub who threw the costly pick-six.
T.J. Yates took over for the embattled Texans quarterback after Schaub was injured on a Chris Long sack midway through the third quarter against the St. Louis Rams.

Fans had been clamoring for Yates to take the reins after Schaub threw a touchdown to the defense in four straight games (including three losses) and cheered in the stands and on Twitter when Schaub went down.
Update (5 p.m. ET): Texans players were not happy with fans for cheering Schaub's injury:
Cushing calls reaction of fans to Schaub's injury "barbaric." Players very upset about it. #Texans â Tania Ganguli (@taniaganguli) October 13, 2013
Texans CB Jonathan Joseph had this to say about the fans who cheered: "They gonna do that, don't show the (expletive) up."
Here's what some fans had to say on Twitter after the injury:
#Schaub goes down! We finally get #TJYates !!! #Texans might have a chance now... #LetsGoTexans â Chris Allister (@Chris_GoodGame) October 13, 2013
But on Yates' fifth pass of the game, a 4th-and-3 from the St. Louis 6, the third-year QB found Alec Ogletree — who, it should be noted, does not play for Yates' team — and 98 yards later, the visitors had a 38-6 lead.
On the ensuing possession, Yates guided the Texans back into the Rams red zone with the help of a roughing the passer penalty. But his redemption tour ended on 2nd-and-10 from the St. Louis 15, when Janoris Jenkins intercepted Yates in the end zone — though at least his pick wasn't returned for a touchdown.
So Texans fans called for a change in quarterback, they got it and they welcomed it, even though it meant rooting like savages for an injury to their own guy. Now, is it too late to get the old guy back? Maybe he wasn't so bad after all.
