Texans cut QB Dysert from practice squad
With three quarterbacks on the roster, the Houston Texans released veteran Zac Dysert from the team's practice squad on Tuesday, the team announced.
Dysert was let go with starter Brian Hoyer set return to the lineup for this Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. Hoyer missed last week's 24-17 win over the New York after suffering a concussion two weeks ago against the Cincinnati Bengals.
T.J. Yates, who started against the Jets, and the recently-acquired Brandon Weeden will serve as Hoyer's backups this week.
A seventh-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2013, Dysert spent his rookie season on the Broncos' active roster and last season the team's practice squad. He joined the Texans in September.
In addition to Dysert's release, the Texans made a pair of other moves to the practice squad on Tuesday with the signing of center Dalton Freeman and outside linebacker Gerald Rivers.
