Pryor had a breakout season with the Browns in 2016, catching 77 passes for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns. The former quarterback also took several snaps under center for a Cleveland team that lost all three of its QBs to injuries at various points.

Pryor had said he wanted to stay in Cleveland and continue to play for coach Hue Jackson if the sides could agree on a long-term deal, but he turned down a multiyear proposal and opted to take a one-year contract from Washington — and the opportunity to enter free agency again next year, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reports.

The Browns had already moved to replace Pryor, agreeing to a deal with Kenny Britt, a 1,000-yard receiver with the Rams last season.
