Surreal depth at wide receiver shines in Week 2 for Jets

The New York Jets beat the Buffalo Bills for the first time in two years. They couldn’t have done it without their amazing wide receiving corps.

It took a little longer than expected, but finally, the New York Jets got their first win of the season. The 37-31 victory required more than the usual suspects on offense to pull it off.

While it should be noted, the Jets didn’t just win the game with their stars, but they certainly welcomed them back into the fold. After the worst performance in the triplets short history together, they got back on track in Week 2.

After only notching five receptions for 69 yards, last week, wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker had quite the bounce back. The duo combined for 12 catches for 227 yards and a score.

As a result, it opened the door for the other receivers, or did it? In all actuality, wide receiver Quincy Enunwa opened up the offense for everyone else.

More from The Jet Press

On the Jets first drive of the game, they were facing a third and long and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick found Enunwa deep.

Enunwa’s longest reception of the game came on his first catch of the game.

The Jets persevered through all of the obstacles in the game. As running back Matt Forte said after the game via the Media Relations Department of the Jets, he could have easily folded, but they showed resiliency.

Something they were unable to show in Week 1.

Wide receiver Jalin Marshall seamlessly jumped into the lineup and despite a fumble that led to a Bills touchdown, bounced back nicely.

Marshall ended up with three big catches for 45 yards. Speaking of the balance on the offensive side of the football for the Jets, here are some factoids.

Fitzpatrick did a marvelous job of spreading the ball around and you can see that here, again, courtesy of the Media Relations Department:

The Jets avoided their first 0-2 start since 2007 with their victory over the Bills. Their next opponent will come on the road in Kansas City next Sunday.
