Super Bowl moment No. 46: Matt Snell helps Joe Namath secure his 'guarantee'
Joe Namath was able to leave the Orange Bowl field waving his index finger high after his New York Jets helped fulfill the quarterback's promise of an upset win over the Baltimore Colts.
It was the performance of running back Matt Snell that allowed Namath to celebrate. Snell rushed 30 times for 121 yards while scoring New York's only touchdown, a four-yard carry around left tackle Winston Hill in the first half.
That play also marked the first time an AFL team held a lead over an NFL team during the Super Bowl.
Final score: New York Jets 16, Baltimore Colts 7
The Colts couldn't get to Joe Namath enough.
