Steve Gleason gets nominated for George Halas Award

Steve Gleason has done some impressive work away from the football field and now, according to Christopher Dabe of NOLA.com, he has been named as a finalist for the George Halas Award.

As Dabe explains, "Former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason has been nominated for the George Halas Award for his battle with ALS and the founding of Team Gleason, which is committed to helping people with ALS."

"The award is presented annually by the Pro Football Writers of America to the player, coach or staff member who overcomes the most adversity to succeed."

Dabe also notes Drew Brees won this award back in 2007, and that Gleason will be up against Rob Gronkowski, Chris Harris Jr., Rolando McClain and Devon Still for the award.

Best of luck to Gleason on the award, one that's well deserved for a man who has done so much in the fight against ALS.
