Steelers Sign Giants Retread As Injured Boswell May Miss Game
The cross-pollination of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants runs deeply. Ownership on both sides has come together to produce a couple of actresses, including one named Rooney Mara. And the special team specialists also come via the opposition this week. The Steelers regular kicker Chris Boswell is injured, so the team inked ex-Giants specialist Randy Bullock.
Boswell Injured
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette on Dec. 3, 2016, regular Steelers kicker Chris Boswell suffered an abdominal injury. It seems unlikely that Boswell will be available for Sunday’s game so another familiar face to Big Blue arrived at Heinz Field
“Randy Bullock, drafted by the Houston Texans in the fifth round in 2012, likely will kick against the New York Giants on Sunday. Coincidently, he kicked for the Giants in the first week of this season after spending three years kicking for Houston and a portion of last season with the Jets. The Giants had signed him to kick for one game during the NFL suspension of kicker Josh Brown.”
Ironically, the man Bullock is replacing, Boswell, came to the Steel City via the G-Men.

Chris Boswell was in training camp with the New York Giants, but he was released in favor of Josh Brown, just as Brandon McManus was the previous year. Bullock barely had a cup of coffee with New York as he was a temporary stand-in for Brown, as he served his one-game NFL suspension.
When the Giants belatedly decided to cut ties with Brown, the team went after veteran Robbie Gould, instead of Bullock. Gould himself was a late training camp casualty of the Chicago Bears. This week, all eyes will be on the kickers, as Gould has disappointed in his short stint in the Big Apple.
If Bullock comes up big for Pittsburgh, then Giants’ fans will lament another who got away. The G-Men can thank the Steelers for punter Brad Wing, however.
