Receiver Sammie Coates practiced on Friday for the first time this week so his status for Sunday’s game in Miami is questionable. He had his hand cut during last week’s 32-13 win over the Jets and required some stitches to clean it up. Teresa Varley had the updated injury report based on Friday’s practice.

    Coates was limited but receiver Eli Rogers went through a full week and is back on track after sitting out two weeks with a turf toe. Those already listed as “Out” for the Dolphins game include Marcus Gilbert, Cameron Heyward, Ryan Shazier, Shamarko Thomas, Cody Wallace and Markus Wheaton.

    When Coates was asked whether or not he thought his finger would be good enough to go on Sunday he gave it the “we’ll see.” I don’t know how yinz grew up but in my mind that means a no.

    He pays everything

    Antonio Brown has been paying a lot so far this season. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler has his comments on his latest pair of cleats for which he’ll probably try to avoid a fine and/or game ejection threat this week.

    Brown, a Miami native, plans to wear cleats honoring the late Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez as well as the late MMA fighter Kimbo Slice. Both were South Florida athletes. Brown tweeted pictures of his custom cleats on Friday.

    When asked whether or not he’ll take them off prior to kickoff to avoid the threat of ejection Brown was noncommittal in his response but did remind everyone that a Brown always pays his debts.

    “I’m going to follow the rules in regards to the guidelines of the NFL. Just looking forward to being out there with the right color and the right shoes on. … I pay my fines, I paid my tolls, my insurance, pay my child support – I pay everything.     Around the NFL’s Kevin Patra doesn’t think Pittsburgh will fall for the trap game in Miami on Sunday. He thinks the opposite. For his bold prediction of the week he’s expecting Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers offense to own the Dolphins defense.

    Between Roethlisberger and Brown being able to exploit what Patra calls the worst corner group in the NFL and Le’Veon Bell shredding Miami’s linebackers he thinks it will be a huge day for Big Ben. He’s predicting Roethlisberger will match the NFL record for seven TD passes in a game. I like it. I like it a lot.
