Steelers' draft class ranked 24th in NFL
Thankfully for the Steelers, draft ranking formulas compiled before a single down of football has been played don't mean much.
The Steelers' draft class ranked 24th in the league according to NFL.com's calculations. The formula relied on the site's hot 100 players from the draft. All things being equal, simple math tells us that each team should come away with three players on the list. That was not the case for Pittsburgh.
Only first-round pick Bud Dupree (No. 20) and third-rounder Sammie Coates (No. 73) made the hot 100, giving the Steelers 109 points, well short of the first-place Vikings' 290 points.
Believe it or not, the Browns came in second on the list with five players in the hot 100 for 248 points. Rounding out the rest of the AFC North were Baltimore (11th place) and Cincinnati (21st), leaving the Steelers at the bottom of the division in these rankings.
