Squirrel on Lambeau Field Stops Colts-Packers (Video)

Only in the NFL can a squirrel cause 22 men to stop what they’re doing and wait for the animal to go on its way—welcome to Colts-Packers.

Coming into the NFL Week 9 matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers, the predominant belief was that it would be a shootout. After all, these are two of the best quarterbacks in the league in Andrew Luck and Aaron Rodgers. However, that wasn’t the way things started out at Lambeau Field. Points were at more of a premium than expected. In fact, the two teams could even be stopped by a furry woodland creature.

With this visiting Colts ahead, both teams were trying to still make something happen, Indy trying to pull away and Green Bay trying to climb back. However, the refs then blew the whistle inside the 20 before the ball was snapped. There was no penalty on the play. Instead, there was just a squirrel frolicking through the end zone.

That’s right; the matchup between the Colts and Packers was briefly halted by a squirrel on the field. And you’re going to tell me that the NFL hasn’t gone off the rails this year:

You know what they always say about the NFL—sometimes you just wind up teaming up with nature and wildlife. Wait—that’s not what they say about football? Well, the video says otherwise.

Somehow, a squirrel being on the field and stopping play isn’t even the weirdest development of Colts-Packers. There could be 100 squirrels and eight deer in the end zone and it’d still be less shocking that Aaron Rodgers not being able to take advantage of a bad Indy defense.
