Sparano: Jets' offense will be physical

Newly hired offensive coordinator Tony Sparano expects the New York Jets to have a ''physical mentality'' and says the team will focus on the running game again while also being ''an explosive'' offense.

Sparano says during in a conference call Friday that he has seen ''a lot of good qualities'' in embattled quarterback Mark Sanchez while preparing to play against him when he was coaching the Miami Dolphins.

Sparano says he's ''kind of a 'show-me' guy'' and everyone on offense will come in like ''a blank piece of paper.''

Sparano took over for Brian Schottenheimer, who left earlier this week in what the team called ''a mutual decision.'' Coach Rex Ryan says when he spoke to Sparano, ''it was like, 'Wow!' I was blown away.''
