Should the Chiefs explore a Chase Daniel trade?

Serviceable quarterback play is both a luxury and a commodity in today's NFL.
The Chiefs have two quarterbacks who can lead a team to victory. They might be wise to explore dealing their other passer, according to Arrowhead Addict.

Chase Daniel's trade value could never be higher. The Missouri product is fresh off a preseason debut in which he tossed three touchdowns and shredded the Cardinals' backup defense.

Daniel could start for several quarterback-needy teams right now. While he's certainly an asset worth keeping in K.C., his value might be higher on the trade block.

General manager John Dorsey could net a mid-round draft pick in return for Daniel. But more importantly, he could get a bloated contract off the books immediately.

According to Spotrac.com, Daniel's 2015 cap hit is $4.8 million. That's more than a handful of current starters, and that's money better relocated to other need positions.

With additional cap space, the Chiefs could pursue a player like Evan Mathis and solidify their offensive line. They might also hunt for free-agent options to plug the loss of Dontari Poe.

Alex Smith is the unbeatable incumbent in K.C. Daniel and his current employer might both be better off parting ways.
