Should the Chargers pursue former Eagles guard Evan Mathis?

One former All-Pro lineman just found his way out of Philadelphia.

And one Chargers beat writer thinks the Bolts should find a way to land former Eagles guard Evan Mathis -- at all costs.

U-T San Diego's Tom Krasovic notes that Mathis and head coach Mike McCoy were together in Carolina from 2005-07. When Mathis found his form under Andy Reid with the Eagles, he shared a line with current Bolts tackle King Dunlap.

Krasovic doesn't stop connecting the dots there.

"Agent Drew Rosenhaus represents Mathis," he wrote. "In recent months the Chargers signed two Rosenhaus clients who were outside free agents -- left guard Orlando Franklin and strong safety Jimmy Wilson."

The staff and front office is familiar with him. Krasovic thinks he'd immediately beat out current right guard Johnnie Troutman, who struggled last season. And adding Mathis would hurt the rest of the guard-needy AFC West (particularly the Broncos).

If Mathis ends up in America's Finest City, it could end up being a perfect fit.
