Sean Payton says the offensive approach won't change for Saints

After re-signing Mark Ingram, bringing in C.J. Spiller and trading away both Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills, it's an obvious assumption by many that the New Orleans Saints may shift to running the ball a bit more in 2015. Apparently, though, there's no shift in the offensive approach coming, according to Mike Triplett of ESPN.

Sean Payton was the man to shoot down the rumor first.

"Payton dismissed the idea of any 'drastic change' or 'major shift' in store for New Orleans’ offense this year, despite the fact that it traded away top pass-catchers Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills while investing in center Max Unger and running backs Mark Ingram and C.J. Spiller." Triplett explained.

The person who may have summed it best though was longtime offensive tackle Zach Strief.

“Look, we’re always going to throw the ball. As long as that guy’s in here, we’re going to throw the ball,” Strief told ESPN while pointing at Brees' locker on Wednesday. “Because we’re good at it.”

Brees is still one of the best in the business, so we should fully expect to see him get plenty of work in 2015. With that said, though, he may be throwing it a bit more to the likes of Spiller, while Ingram will likely remain the focal point in the run game this year.
