Seahawks bring back safety Jeron Johnson after losing Earl Thomas for the year

The Seattle Seahawks are bringing back a familiar face to bolster their secondary, signing veteran safety Jeron Johnson on Tuesday, a day after the team announced Earl Thomas would miss the rest of the season.

Johnson spent his first four years in the NFL with the Seahawks but started just one game. He played last season with the Redskins but hasn’t seen any action in 2016.

Johnson has 70 tackles and one forced fumble in his five-year career.

Thomas suffered a season-ending broken leg against the Panthers on Sunday. The team said Monday that the five-time Pro Bowl safety would not be back in 2016.
