Sammy Watkins Placed On Injured Reserve
Sammy Watkins placed on Injured Reserve today.
Buffalo Bills fans worst nightmare came true today when their uber-talented wide receiver Sammy Watkins was placed on injured reserve today. Watkins had offseason surgery on his foot but was able to make it back for the first two weeks of this season.
The reason why Sammy Watkins was able to play the first two weeks but is now being put on injured reserve is because the injury was aggravated when it was stepped on during a walk-through by a teammate.
When it was stepped on his pain was noticeable according to one of his teammates. According to the Buffalo News, Robert Woods said, “Something occurred with his foot. He just, seeing his face, he made a little face. It bothered him, whatever it was.”
Watkins must remain on IR for a minimum of eight weeks but he could still come back this season. According to Ian Rapoport there is no surgery scheduled. Just “rest and rehab.”
There is no surgery scheduled for #Bills WR Sammy Watkins, though he will visit Dr. Robert Anderson to be sure. Finally just rest & rehab

The Bills filled Watkins spot on the roster by claiming Justin Hunter off of waivers. Hunter has 1,116 yards on 68 catches with eight touchdowns in his career. While there is no replacing Watkins, Hunter is 6’4″ and the Bills have long desired for a tall receiver who can be a threat in the red zone.
The news today about Sammy Watkins is very disheartening right before a huge divisional matchup with the New England Patriots who will also be missing one of their premier players in Tom Brady.
There is no doubt about it, Robert Woods needs to step up and Tyrod Taylor needs to find a way to find Woods more often as well as Charles Clay. Even though the Bills beat a very good Arizona Cardinals team last week without Sammy Watkins, throwing for 119 yards is just not going to cut it in the long-term.
