Saints wideout Brandin Cooks reportedly is frustrated with his role in offense

A day after having zero passes thrown his way during the New Orleans Saints’ 49-21 win over the Rams, wideout Brandin Cooks took to Instagram and posted a cryptic message about having to “turn into a business man.”

Cooks’ message Monday appears to be a very public example of his reported growing frustration with his role in the Saints’ offense, which scored a season-high in points Sunday. According to ESPN, Cooks’ dissatisfaction stems from the idea that he is often used as a clear-out option instead of the intended target.

The third-year wideout, who has been targeted 75 times this season, is second on the team in receptions (51), receiving yards (736) and receiving touchdowns (6) in 2016, trailing only rookie Michael Thomas in each category. Cooks, who won't become an unrestricted free agent until 2018, is coming off a year in which he finished with 84 catches for 1,138 yards and nine TDs while having 129 balls thrown his way.
