Saints vs Chargers Week 4: Highlights, score and recap
The New Orleans Saints will head to San Diego on Sunday, as they look for their first win of the season against the Chargers.
For the first time in his NFL career, New Orleans Saints quarterback will battle against the team that drafted him on the road. Brees has played against the San Diego Chargers at home during his career, but has never taken the field as a foe in Qualcomm Stadium. That will all change on Sunday, as Brees and the Saints travel to San Diego to take on the Chargers.
The Saints come into Sunday’s game looking for their first win of the season, after being drubbed at home against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football. They had a short week of practice to get ready for a San Diego team could possibly be 3-0 on the young season. Instead, the Chargers are 1-2, after blowing leads in both Weeks 1 and 3.
San Diego is led by Philip Rivers, who took over for Brees as the Chargers starting quarterback in 2005. He has put together an incredible career with San Diego, becoming one of the more prolific passers in the AFC during his career. He is still at the top of his game, and has thrived even without some of his biggest weapons already on the shelf this season.
Keenan Allen and Danny Woodhead are both out for the season for the Bolts offense, while Manti Te’o is done for their defense. The Saints still have one of the more high-octane offensive units in football, and should find it easy to move the ball against a shorthanded San Diego defense. Look for a ton of points on Sunday afternoon.

Three Stars Prediction
1. Drew Brees
The New Orleans Saints are 0-3 on the young season, despite being in two of the three games they have played this season. They are coming off an embarassing loss to the Falcons at home, and their quarterback is going to be fired up to play against the team that let him walk in 2005. Expect a huge game from Brees, as he looks to show the city of San Diego what they have been missing.
2. Melvin Gordon
The second-year running back from the University of Wisconsin continues to get better, after an inconsistent season as a rookie last year. Gordon has been able to find the end zone on a consistent basis this season, one thing he failed to do last year. He is the main weapon on the San Diego offense, and he should put together a solid game on Sunday.
3. Brandin Cooks
If Brees has a big game on Sunday, look for Cooks to be one of the main reasons why. Cooks has not had a great season so far in 2016, but that will change against the Chargers. San Diego’s secondary is not very good, and Cooks has the kind of speed to get behind their defenders. He could be in for multiple touchdowns this week.
Odds
The odds makers have made San Diego a 3.5 point home favorite on Sunday, as the Chargers have won their only game at home this season. The over/under is set at 52.5, meaning there should be a ton of scoring in this one. These two offenses could definitely shatter that number.
Next Week
The San Diego Chargers will open their AFC West slate next Sunday, as they travel to Oakland to take on the Raiders. The New Orleans Saints will have their bye week, before hosting the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.
