Safety cut by Washington after NFL reistatement back with team

Tanard Jackson is staying with the Washington Redskins after all.

A day after he was reinstated by the NFL and cut by the Redskins, the veteran safety signed a new deal with Washington on Wednesday.

Jackson was suspended indefinitely without pay in August 2012 for violating the league's substance abuse policy. It was his third drugs-related suspension, and it came a few months after he signed a one-year contract with the Redskins.

He missed both the 2012 and 2013 seasons, but he remained under contract to the Redskins. Washington terminated that contract late Tuesday was expected to explore the possibility of negotiating a more cap-friendly deal.
