Ryan Fitzpatrick says Jets fans told him to 'stop being so greedy'

Ryan Fitzpatrick admitted he got a lot of fan input during his long contract stalemate with the New York Jets.

The quarterback told reporters Saturday after team practice that, "Everywhere I went, that was a topic of conversation," Fitzpatrick said via ESPN.

"Some of them were trying to feel it out and buddy me up to get the answer to what's really going on with the situation. They wanted my agent's number. Some of them were telling me I need to sign, 'stop being so greedy.' Everything in the book was thrown at me. But for the most part, people were pretty respectful about it."

The 33-year-old Fitzpatrick and the Jets ended the six-month-long standoff on Wednesday when the starting quarterback agreed to return to New York on a one-year, reported $12 million deal.

And now both sides can breathe a sigh of relief and focus on getting the Jets to the postseason for the first time since 2010.
