Rookie RB Jay Ajayi has 'earned more carries' after strong debut
Rookie running back Jay Ajayi made his NFL debut for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, rushing for 41 yards on just five carries. He showed flashes of the speed and power he had at Boise State and has carved out a role on offense.
On Wednesday, head coach Dan Campbell said Ajayi "has earned more carries" after his strong debut against the Bills on Sunday.
This news almost certainly comes with a decrease in carries for Lamar Miller, who's already been overlooked in the backfield. Miller has averaged a career-high 5.3 yards per carry yet the Dolphins are still just 31st in the league in rushing attempts per game.
Campbell clearly believes Ajayi can have an impact on offense in the coming weeks and we'll get a sense of just how true that is this week against the Eagles. Philadelphia's run defense has been strong for the most part this year, but there will be holes to be found by Miller and Ajayi on Sunday.
