Rookie corners Hill, Shaw thrive in Bengals preseason opener

Just when you thought the Bengals couldn't get any deeper at cornerback, two of their best players on the field in Friday night's preseason win over the Giants were rookies corners.

Undrafted rookie Troy Hill made a case for a roster spot with the best grade (+3.3) of all Bengals from Pro Football Focus, allowing just three catches for 27 yards on seven targets. He had two passes defensed, including one in the end zone. Receiver Greg Little was second at +3.0, while fourth-round corner Josh Shaw received a +1.9, allowing just 12 yards in 31 snaps on defense.

Fellow corner Chris Lewis-Haris (+1.8) and tight end Tyler Eifert (+1.5) rounded out PFF's top five from Friday night.

The Bengals are already stocked in the secondary as their top four corners are all first-round picks --Adam Jones, Dre Kirkpatrick, Leon Hall, Darqueze Dennard.
