Ron Rivera unconcerned Cam Newton rode scooter without helmet despite concussion
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was recently seen riding a scooter without a helmet, but Ron Rivera isn't worried about it, despite his quarterback remaining in concussion protocol.
"I'm not going to worry about that," Rivera said with a laugh on Tuesday, according to ESPN. "The bottom line is he's an adult. We'll go from there."
Newton missed Monday's loss to the Buccaneers with the concussion he sustained the week before against the Falcons. He stayed off the field the entire week and was advised by doctors not to attend Monday's matchup because the excitement of the game could have negatively impacted his health.
The director of the University of Miami concussion protocol, Dr. Gillian Hotz, told ESPN that Newton's decision to ride the scooter without a helmet was "high risk."

Rivera said Newton had a good day doing non-football-specific workouts on Monday, and did not rule out his potential return to practice on Wednesday.
