Robert Kraft on how he'd feel receiving the Lombardi Trophy from Roger Goodell

Ever since Tom Brady was handed a four-game suspension in the wake of Deflategate, Patriots fans have been envisioning a potential meeting on the podium after Super Bowl LI between Tom Brady, Bill Belickick, Robert Kraft and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Goodell told Fox Sports 1's Colin Cowherd that he doesn't believe he'd feel awkward handing the Lombardi Trophy over to the Patriots, and that it would be an honor to share the moment with Tom Brady.

In an interview with Erin Andrews ahead of Super Bowl LI on FOX, Kraft noted that while he's still unhappy with the way Deflategate was resolved, the silver lining of the controversy is that Patriots fans are as unified as ever.

Erin Andrews: What would it mean for your fanbase to see the commissioner hand the Lombardi trophy to you, Bill Belichick, and your quarterback Tom Brady?

Robert Kraft: "Well he’s really giving it to the entire organization when you think about it.

Anyone who’s a fan of the NFL - but especially the Patriots - knows that this whole situation could have and should have been handled a lot differently. And I’m so proud of this team and what they’ve done, and it is emotional.

And sometimes these difficult situations, I believe the support from our fanbase is stronger and even more passionate because of what’s happened."

"It’s tremendous competition in this league. I know sometimes it gets to be jealousy. I have a saying, ‘jealousy and envy are incurable diseases.’ But it’s nice if we’re the recipient of it rather than feeling it toward someone else. That’s a privilege."
