Rob Gronkowski officially week-to-week, 'no timetable' for return

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Rob Gronkowski's injury over the past few days, but the New England Patriots set the record straight on Tuesday.

Unexpectedly, the Patriots and the Gronkowski family issued a statement clarifying the tight end's injury and status going forward. Gronkowski is officially has a bone bruise and is considered "week-to-week," with his availability for each game being determined in the "days or hours prior."

The injury appeared to be serious when it occurred, but an MRI on Monday revealed no structural or significant damage. It's unclear if Gronkowski will be back in time for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the Patriots desperately need him on the field as soon as possible.

With Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman also injured, Tom Brady is running out of targets to throw to. Gronkowski drastically changes the Patriots offense and provides a huge boost when healthy.
