Rob Gronkowski had the most Gronk reason for choosing to attend Arizona
Deciding where to attend college is a big decision for a teenager. It's an even bigger one for a star athlete with scholarship offers from top-flight programs.
New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was one of those highly-touted prospects, so he had quite a few options. Ohio State. Syracuse. Clemson. They were all options, but Gronk chose the University of Arizona. Why? Because of the pool parties, of course.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Rob's father, Gordy Gronkowski, shared the reason behind his son's decision.
Regardless of why Gronk chose Arizona, it has certainly worked out for him. He's now one of the league's all-time greatest tight ends and has more endorsement deals than seemingly anyone in sports.
With each of my sons, when they got to the campus that was right for them, they knew right away. Rob had something like 65 scholarship offers, and I asked, “Where are you going? Syracuse? Ohio State?” He goes, “University of Arizona.” I asked, “Why there?” “Dad, if you ever went to a pool party at Arizona, you’d understand.”
It's probably safe to say Gronkowski was likely the star of those pool parties. The guy is Mr. Popular, and there's no reason to believe he was any different in college.
