Richard Sherman explains how he is overcoming Super Bowl loss

The Seattle Seahawks’ devastating loss to the New England Patriots during the closing seconds of Super Bowl XLIX will haunt many players and fans for quite some time. But Richard Sherman has figured out a way to move on.

Other things such as raising a new baby and rehabbing his elbow have helped Sherman move on from the loss.

Speaking with Brady Henderson from KIRO-AM, Sherman shared how he dealt with the loss:

“I guess (we approach 2015) the same way we recovered after the Super Bowl win the year before — you wash it off and clean slate. When you win it doesn’t give you anything going into the next year and when you lose it doesn’t take anything away going into the next year. So you treat it like a clean slate and you go in and you get back to the grindstone.

Sherman also discussed the condition of his left elbow, which he hyperextended near the end of the NFC Championship matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

“It’s doing a lot better. Obviously, the scar tissue is still there but my mobility is there, I’m able to have a lot more strength in my extension than I had at the end of the season. It just comes down to time and working and trying to get that scar tissue more flexible than it was.”

The corner chose to rest and rehabilitate his arm this past spring rather than undergo surgery. Thus far, Sherman has practiced fully in the Seahawks’ organized team activities.

A positive outlook for the upcoming 2015 season combined with a team loaded with explosive talent on both sides of the ball could have Seattle contending for its third consecutive Super Bowl appearance.
