RG3 operating as Cam Newton on Redskins' scout team

The Washington Redskins are preparing for a matchup with Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers by putting backup quarterback Robert Griffin III to work. Griffin has been operating as Newton on the Redskins' scout team to help the team prepare.

“He's doing some of that, which is good, but, you know, to envision to emulate a guy that's 6-foot-6, 265 pounds is a little bit different," coach Jay Gruden said, per CBS Sports. "But with some of the zone-read packages, they've seen a little bit with Kirk [Cousins] and Robert. Then, obviously, Robert is excellent at that, so we will use him effectively in that area.”

The Redskins will need to pull out all the stops to slow Newton and a Panthers offense that is in the NFL's top five in rushing yards per game, thanks in large part to Newton's rushing ability.
