Rex Ryan jokes he'll start 'that Bumgarner guy' as Jets QB

It's no secret the Jets could use some help this season.

And after losing seven games in a row, the NFL team's woeful quarterback position is getting the most heat -- which is why much ink was spilled when coach Rex Ryan announced he was going to start Michael Vick instead of Geno Smith for New York's game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

So on Thursday, Ryan decided to try a different tack altogether, announcing that he was going to start Giants pitching superstar and World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner as QB instead:

Which makes sense. Bumgarner can throw. He's used to starting. His saving powers are world-renowned. Plus, what else does he have to do now that his season is over?

Ryan was joking, of course. Good for him for keeping his sense of humor amid the 1-7 dreariness.
