Reports: 49ers CB Chris Culliver accused in suit of using racial slur, threatening teen

San Francisco 49ers CB Chris Culliver has been accused in a civil suit of allegedly using a racial slur and threatening a teenager with brass knuckles, according to multiple reports.

The suit alleges that Culliver made the remark and threat during a confrontation that led to his March arrest for hit-and-run and weapons offenses, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The report says that the suit was filed in April by Marc Santos, who claims his vehicle was hit during Culliver’s alleged attempt to drive away after authorities claim he ran into a bicyclist. It seeks unspecified damages.

Authorities said that Santos had blocked Culliver's vehicle until police arrived and arrested the football player, according to the report. Santos told the paper that Culliver was "hostile, profane, repeatedly tried to leave the scene and at one point threatened Santos' 15-year-old son with brass knuckles on his right hand."

"He kept cussing at us to let him go," Santos told the paper. “I said, 'You're not going anywhere.' “

In addition, Santos alleges that Culliver “directed an ethnic slur at him and his family, who are Latino.”

Culliver has pled not guilty to misdemeanor hit-and-run and a felony weapons charge (for the brass knuckles found in his car). The report says that neither police nor prosecutors have presented evidence to "corroborate Santos' allegations of a physical threat."

A 49ers spokesperson told the paper that the team cannot commit on an ongoing legal matter while his publicist told it that "he knew nothing about the civil suit and that his client also would not speak on the matter."

Culliver, 25, remains with the organization as a projected starter.
