Report: Vikings to retain Frazier as coach

The Minnesota Vikings have given Leslie Frazier an assurance that he will return as coach in 2012 despite his 5-14 record over the past two seasons.

The Vikings are 2-11 this season and on track to complete the worst season in franchise history, but sources told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that Frazier's job was safe.

They face the Saints, Redskins and Bears on the run home and if the team cannot register a win it will finish 2-14, which is one game worse than the 1984 team that went 3-13.

The report suggested that because the Vikings are still paying former coach Brad Childress' buyout of about $5 million until after the 2012 season, it made financial sense to keep Frazier.
