Report: Tony Romo willing to be Dak Prescott's backup

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is willing to sit on the bench as rookie Dak Prescott’s backup, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports

Romo has missed all of this season after fracturing a bone in his back and Prescott has helped lead Dallas to a 7–1 start. Romo has returned to practice but Prescott remains the starter.

Head coach Jason Garrett said getting Romo up to speed will be difficult after a long layoff.

“I think it's all just stages, getting the guys closer and ready to play in a game,” Garrett said. “Tony hasn't played in a game in nearly a year, 50 weeks. So you want to get a guy out there again and again and again moving around with people around him.”

Prescott has completed 66.5% of his passes, with 12 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
