Report: Snead accepts Rams GM job

Les Snead, who had been the director of player personnel at the Atlanta Falcons, accepted an offer Saturday to become the new general manager of the St. Louis Rams, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The Rams are expected to make an official announcement Monday.

Snead's appointment ends a long search to replace Billy Devaney, who was fired after the Rams' 2-14 season.

He was first interviewed in January and the team is reportedly known to have spoken with nine candidates. The other finalist was George Paton, who earlier Saturday was promoted to assistant general manager with the Minnesota Vikings.

Snead spent 13 seasons in the Falcons' personnel department, including three as director of player personnel.

He joined the Falcons from Jacksonville, where he worked in the Jaguars' pro scouting department from 1995-97.
