Report: Saints extends Max Unger with a 3-year deal

The New Orleans Saints and starting center Max Unger have agreed to a 3-year contract extension — that according to Herbie Teope from The Times-Picayune.

The news broke during halftime of the Saints last preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Saints obviously think highly of their o-line leader, after they traded one of their best players in Jimmy Graham to get him.

In 2015, he really helped the offensive line and made his presence felt as the the leader in the middle.

This is obviously a very good move for the Saints. They secure one of their upcoming free agents and also get to keep one of their best players.

The move makes even more sense after the horrible showing from the offensive line during the preseason. Securing Unger into the future will remove any questions at the center spot, allowing the Saints to focus on the guard spots both in this offseason and also in the next one.
