Report: Robert Griffin III could miss rest of season with shoulder injury

Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III’s shoulder injury will keep him out for 10 to 12 weeks and could possibly end his season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports

Cleveland placed Griffin on injured reserve Monday with a fractured coracoid bone in his left shoulder. The team has the option to designate Griffin to return from IR but is only allowed to use the designation on one player and is allowed to wait until he is able to return to practice before making the decision.

Griffin was injured late in the Browns’ Week 1 loss to the Eagles. He handed off three times before time expired.

With latest severe injury, RG3's shot at reclaiming stardom is effectively over

Griffin signed a two-year, incentive-laden contract with the Browns in the off-season. His guaranteed salary is $6.75 million and he can earn up to $22 million. The Browns can cut him after the season and will only be on the hook for $1.75 million in dead salary cap space.
