Report: Raiders showing interest in tight end Jermaine Gresham

The Raiders did their homework on Jermaine Gresham before free agency began in March.

That interest never materialized in a signing. But it never went away, either, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport:

Oakland still has about $20 million in cap to burn; they can more than afford Gresham's price tag.

Whether or not they'd actually sign him is a different story. Since they first inquired about his services, the team has signed a blocking tight end in Lee Smith and drafted jack-of-all-trades tight end Clive Walford.

Gresham would join Smith, Walford, and Mychal Rivera on a very deep tight end group -- if Oakland ends up with him, that is.
