Report: Louis Nix, Kenny Hilliard among Texans' cuts

The Houston Texans released 2014 third-round pick Louis Nix III  as the team worked to get down to the 53-man roster limit, the Houston Chronicle reported Friday.

Nix, the 83rd overall pick in last year's draft, spent all of last season on injured reserve. He was beaten out in training camp by rookie Christian Covington.

Per the Chronicle's Aaron Wilson, the team also released running back Kenny Hilliard, defensive lineman Tevita Finau, center James Ferentz, linebacker Kourtnei Brown, defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick, linebacker Max Bullough, safety Corey Moore, offensive lineman Matt Feiler and wide receiver Damaris Johnson .

Hilliard, a 2015 seventh-round pick out of LSU, ran for a 109 yards on 48 carries in the preseason, but was behind Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes and Chris Polk on the team's depth chart.
