Report: Jacoby Brissett to start at QB for Patriots, Jimmy Garoppolo as back-up

Jacoby Brissett will start at quarterback for the New England Patriots on Thursday night against the Houston Texans, according to Courtney Fallon of the NFL Network.

Jimmy Garoppolo will be active and in uniform as Brissett's back-up. Garoppolo injured his throwing shoulder during the first half of Sunday’s 34–27 victory over the Miami Dolphins and did not return. He completed 18 of 27 passes for 234 yards and three touchdowns before he was injured. The injury was later determined to be a grade 2 AC joint sprain.

Brissett entered the game and completed six of nine passes for 92 yards. He also ran four times for 12 yards. The Patriots do not plan on dialing down their offense for Brissett, according to Fallon.

Garoppolo and Brissett are temporary options at quarterback for the Patriots as they await Tom Brady's return from a four-game suspension.
