Report: Eagles place stud DL Fletcher Cox on trade block

According to one report, you can add Fletcher Cox to the list of premier defensive players that the Eagles are willing to dangle in order to secure Marcus Mariota.

On Wednesday, NFL Media's Albert Breer named Cox in addition to Mychal Kendricks and Evan Mathis as potential trade pieces.

The total list of players rumored to be on the trade block now stands as follows: Fletcher Cox, Mychal Kendricks, Brandon Boykin, Evan Mathis. That's quite a list of talented players with a lot of NFL production already under their belt.

The Eagles picked up Cox's fifth-year contract option on Tuesday. Cox broke out last season playing the 5-technique defensive end position in Billy Davis' 3-4 base defensive scheme. He racked up 70 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four sacks, 14 hurries and a forced fumble in 2014. He finished as Pro Football Focus' fifth-best 3-4 defensive end with plus marks as a pass rusher and run defender.

Losing Cox would be costly, but it might be exactly what needs to be done in order to land Mariota on Thursday night.
