Report: Dolphins will fire GM Dennis Hickey on Monday

The Miami Dolphins will reportedly fire general manager Dennis Hickey on Monday.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, the Dolphins intend to relieve Hickey of his duties on Monday, though another source tells him that no final decision has been made.

This news comes after Dolphins owner Stephen Ross omitted Hickey’s name when discussing the upcoming coaching search in a letter to season ticket holders.

Hickey lost much of his power last year when former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum assumed the role of vice president of football operations. Sources told Florio that Tannenbaum would not name himself as GM, but he pretty clearly holds most of the power in the team’s front office.

Miami has been a huge disappointment this season. After signing Ndamukong Suh to a huge contract, they’ve gone just 5-11, and they’ll be hiring a new coach this offseason as well.
