Report: Dolphins to release safety Jordan Kovacs

The Miami Dolphins are expected to release safety Jordan Kovacs in the coming days, according to Omar Kelly of the Sun Sentinel.

Kovacs doesn't play much safety for the Dolphins, but he is a special teams contributor. He's recorded three tackles and one sack this season and has 11 career tackles in three seasons.

He came into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2013 and has appeared in 28 games. Since he's played in fewer than 32 games in his career, he can be placed on the Dolphins' practice squad if he clears waivers on Wednesday.

It's unclear who the Dolphins will add to the active roster, but it's clear depth at safety isn't an issue despite being without Louis Delmas for the entire season.
