Report: Chargers optimistic about Philip Rivers extension
Chargers fans were on around-the-clock Philip Rivers trade watch just last month.
Now, their team is hopeful it'll be able to keep Rivers at quarterback-- and not just through 2015, either.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that the two sides are "a little optimistic" about reaching an agreement on a contract extension. According to Rapoport's sources, the Chargers would love to see Rivers retire as a San Diego Charger.
It's unknown if Rivers has that goal in mind, too, according to Rapoport. But after the draft came and went, it seems likelier and likelier that the veteran passer will end his career in blue and gold.
